At that time I did not disable dhcp client. Today I can not ssh into the server anymore, then found the server's ip address changed to 192.168.1.103 which I do not understand why. I greped the /var/log/ and got:

syslog.1:Jul 26 19:17:06 scens dhclient[1041]: DHCPREQUEST of 192.168.1.103 on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 (xid=0x46a59385)

Does this mean if I had disabled dhclient, the static ip address should stay 192.168.1.98 FOREVER?

Thanks,
-MikeMike2khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08152483942775937499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8038096487805715549.post-44115024040335001322017-04-27T07:00:36.212-07:002017-04-27T07:00:36.212-07:00very nice..thank you..

(See RFC 2865). In future updates to the book, I'll most likely use a different authentication method. Frankly, if I were setting up AD authentication today for VPN users, I'd probably consider LDAP or Kerberos before RADIUS. I have some videos showing how to do that on my video channel. I'm curious...Why choose the PAP authentication? I'm curious, is the cleartext only inside our network between the ASA and the RADIUS server?? I am generally uncomfortable with any authentication not being encrypted so this made me wonder. It would obviously defeat the purpose of VPN for the passwords to be available in cleartext, so I'm assuming it's only inside the network. Please advise. Thanks!
